Touch Romania began at the start of 2019, with a series of events that brought together a diverse mix of participants – amateur rugby teams, complete beginners, company teams, and anyone curious to try the sport. The focus from the beginning was on accessibility, inclusion, and creating a space where people of all backgrounds could enjoy touch rugby.
After a few years of inactivity, the project was revived in 2024 with renewed energy and commitment. Since then, we have been running weekly training sessions, steadily building a growing and dedicated community around the sport.
Each year, we organize several national-level events, offering players opportunities to compete, connect, and develop their skills. We have also begun building international relationships, starting with friendly matches against our neighbors from Bulgaria. They visited us in 2024, and in 2025 we traveled to Sofia.
Looking ahead, our goal is to continue growing touch rugby in Romania – expanding participation, increasing the level of competition, and representing our community in larger international tournaments.
